The traditional Shaker work-song-hymn, SIMPLE GIFTS was originally published in THE GIFT TO BE SIMPLE: SHAKER RITUALS AND SONGS. Since then this folk tune has acquired the status of an American classic. One of its most famous permutations is to be found in Aaron Copland’s vocal arrangement and in his variations on the tune which conclude his ballet, APPALACHIAN SPRING. It recently was played as a theme song for President and Mrs. Clinton when they greeted crowds celebrating their re-election in Little Rock, AK. Its rondo-like form combines the stomping pulses of work, with the swaying rhythms of the Shaker dancing prayer.

Sven and Buddy, after what was an undeniably long and trying day, sat down around a bucket of mango margaritas to, well, shoot the shit (haha, they’d been doing that for hours…they noted). Piano music curled in the rich cigar smoke above their table. Ah, Jimmy Buffet. The ship, 3800 rooms, drifted by the southernmost reaches of Kamchatka. The Life! Really, though. Sven. This rifraff. Gotta do something.

Posted in Uncategorized on September 7, 2008 by discotejasdiscotexas“At the time, with the information she had, [Ms. Palin] made the right decision”
A favorite phrase. Perhaps we can think of something to say for ensuring one has good information before setting about making “right decision[s]“. The rashness with which these political-types approach their responsibilities to make informed decisions is disturbing. I do not think that Palin is alone in this, but the political right seems to especially abhor research. Perhaps data and other objective wishwash reflects, in their culture, a lack of virtue or faith. People who doubt themselves, in this view, must also doubt god who probably begins to doubt them in turn. Divine inspiration dries up, and all the AynRandish fun of
neo-Macchiavellian politics ends with it.
Yes, we need some hot little mavericks to stir this country up, to get things going, keep us on our toes. Eight years of careful, cautious policies have led to outright stagnation in our capitol swamp, which has become in its lethargy something quite far from a moral high ground. Mickayne and Pal’in’ have both demonstrated an astonishing capacity for asserting themselves gatekeepers to our city on the hill absent any reference to their respective altitudes. Strange. McCain, a polygamist, and Palin, a happy grandmother sans soninlaw ,can surely attest to the spiritual and civic importance of folks who have strikingly different genitalia getting married as well as the efficacy of abstinence-only education. We must all remember that had Mary been on the pill we would all be going to hell though Joseph probably would have felt less awkward in his waning years. And so, appropriately, the fin de siecle carnival can happen now, perpetuated by the eldest who missed it the first few times around and suffered by those aware of the times or having calendars. What gives them the right, anyway?

DiscotejasDiscotexas manifests a strong commitment to sustainability and diversity in many forms. Our work through SATAN testifies to the intensity and thoughtfulness of our endeavors; it is with this same care and ruthless surmounting of obstacles that we introduce our newest project. We hope that you will be as morally touched and motivated to action by the stories we relate to you as we have been ourselves. It is not an easy task to confront the oppressing forces that urge us to abandon our devaru sanctuary and take to the streets, but it is an urgent and necessary one.
In order to protect those we help (as many of theIt;m remain in states of vulnerable exploitation, guarded by tenacious overseers), we have changed some of the names in this report. As the saying goes, protect the noun and maim the meaning.
It’s hard to say. Many of these images, words, meanings plead for impunity. **We were here from the start** but they weren’t, though they thought they were early. It’s how things happen now. The scavengers turn out to be the misperceptions of the discoverers. See, the coats-of-arms were really licking torn flesh. Who got there first. It’s the penultimate signification, but who knows the language? …. … …. !. …. ? ….. “….?……” i can vote

Obama and his supporters have a lot to say about change. We wonder what they really mean with all of this. After all, he isn’t even a socialist. Along with this disavowal of amerrycan! values, the politician seems naively out of touch with the future he faces. This raises concerns for us because we care, but it matters to Obama supporters for reasons which are just where they should be for now. We will do something about it; read further to find out!
Nancy Pelosi on The View recently:
The View Host: ** Why would it be stupid to just impeach Bush RIGHT NOW so that everyone knows that you can’t do those things! Right NOW! **
Pelosi: ** Because we would have to investigate to see if he did anything wrong. And we don’t wanna. Everyone will die if we do. No one wants that! **
This was a terrible interview.
Nonetheless, Dennis K. has assembled all sorts of evidence he has presented in his many articles of impeachment. So. It looks as though Bush WILL be impeached, and very soon! After all this time, all the terrible, terrible, sad things that have been done to so many people and living and meaningful things! Yay!
Of course, my fellow political correspondents here at DTDT tell me that this will be a nightmare because of Chey. There’s so much evidence against him, though. Really.
This means that Pelosi will be president!!
hmmm
Here is where we look ahead.
Obama is the first elected independent presidential candidate after the DNC endorses Pelosi in a Colorado nightmare powergrab hosted by BlackWATer WorldWide.
Pelosi deals with it. McCain flips and becomes President of Panama in what appears (and is) a Blackwater WorldWidE orchestrate coup.
I’m watching that interview on The View with my friends; we weep a lot these days.
I Think I Want to Barf Before I Drink Tonight.
